Description
In celebration of International Archaeology Day, the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) invites you to get out your LEGO bricks (or whatever your preferred building bricks might be) to design and build your version of your favorite monument or archaeological site! All are welcome to participate – no membership or AIA affiliation required.
Entries will be accepted starting on September 29 and submissions will be accepted until October 17 after which we will hold a public vote to select the winner for each age category! We encourage you to build how you want – go big, be concise, reimagine how your favorite site or monument appeared in antiquity, or recreate how it looks today!
The winners from each category will receive a one-year gift membership to the AIA!
The New Orleans Society of the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) supports the work of the national AIA in its mission to promote archaeological inquiry and public understanding of the material record of the human past to foster an appreciation of diverse cultures and our shared humanity. The AIA supports archaeologists, their research and its dissemination, and the ethical practice of archaeology. The AIA educates people of all ages about the significance of archaeological discovery and advocates for the preservation of the world’s archaeological heritage.
The local society sponsors talks and events that are free and open to the public. We also provide information national events, such as the online Archaeology Hour talks.
